(College Station, TX) — A pair of Navarro High School student-athletes were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A all-state baseball team this week.
Colt Brown made the All-State Second Team at catcher following a stellar junior season. He was a unanimous first teamer for the Panthers on the All-District 28-4A team this past season.
At the plate, Brown hit .400 with a home run, 29 RBI and 16 runs scored in 30 games played. He had three triples and three doubles and stole 11 bases. On the mound, Brown went 9-1 with a 1.62 ERA. The right-hander threw a no-hitter against Poth on February 23rd. Brown announced earlier this summer that he will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Louisiana following his graduation from Navarro next spring.
Named to the All-State Third Team in the outfield was Landun Taylor. Taylor earned the district offensive MVP by leading the Panthers in batting average, home runs, RBI and stolen bases this past season. The outfielder, pitcher and first baseman hit .459 with two home runs and 32 runs batted in playing in 28 games. He also swiped 19 bases. Taylor will continue his career at Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, Mississippi next spring.
