Freedom Fiesta plans in place for Saturday

(Seguin) – The time has finally arrived for the 2024 KWED Freedom Fiesta. The event will run from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday in downtown Seguin. This year’s run-down begins at 6 p.m. with the opening ceremonies and annual Kiddie Parade hosted by the Guadalupe County Republican Women.

During the parade, kids will march around the town square wearing their patriotic best. They will be led this year by Uncle Sam, a.k.a. Sheriff Elect Joshua Ray.

Kids are invited to walk, stroll, ride their bicycles or get around in their motorized vehicles. Prizes will be awarded to the top two winners in each of the three categories available.

This year’s live entertainment will be provided by Seguin native Brandon Michael. Michael, a country music artist, will take the stage from 8 to 11 p.m. Also, on the grounds this year will be DJ DTrayne who will be providing non-stop music throughout the evening.

Over 20 food trucks and non-profit food booths will also be on site selling a variety of foods, drinks and desserts.

Several vendors will also set up shop around Central Park. A wide range of items will be available for purchase.

This year, Backyard Shenanigans will be hosting a gaming area for kids and adults.  H&R Party Rental will also be selling $10 armbands for unlimited play on inflatable houses and obstacle courses.  Also available will be face painting and balloon animals.

Hosting this year’s beer garden will again be members of the Knights of Columbus of Seguin.

Folks are reminded to bring their blankets and lawn chairs. A complete guide on Freedom Fiesta can be picked up today at KWED  from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The guide is available online at SeguinToday.com.
