Freedom Fiesta announces food menu

Fourth of July celebration set for this Saturday

(Seguin) —  You will want to come hungry this Saturday to downtown Seguin. That’s because this year’s KWED Freedom Fiesta will be equipped with more food trucks and food booths than ever.

This year’s Fourth of July celebration will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Over the last several years, the corners of Central Park have been filled with popular food trucks. This year, approximately 15 food trucks will again roll into Downtown Seguin.

KWED’s Linda Duncan says the success of Freedom Fiesta has not only brought many of these food trucks back but also helped recruit new ones.

“Adding food trucks happened to us during the COVID years and they’ve stuck because people just enjoy having a variety of food to choose from,” said Duncan.

Food trucks and other for-profit food vendors include Mister Softee, The Dilly Deli, Any ‘Wich Way, Travelin’ Toms, UBP Burgers, Auntie Anne’s, Chick-fil-A, Dona Kika’s Tacos and Gorditas, Wiggle Waggle, Matengas Pizzeria, and Grouchy Mamas and Sweet Rentals.

Duncan says several non-profit groups will also be serving up some of their tasty recipes for a good cause in addition to food trucks.

“One of the things that makes us so happy here at KWED is the way that we are able to give back during Freedom Fiesta to some of our non-profit groups here in Seguin and we do that through food booths that these non-profits have and they are a great addition and I know that everyone likes to come out and support these non-profits,” said Duncan.

Sampling all the foods this year at Freedom Fiesta will be easy, as attendees will also enjoy a full night of other events.

The annual free Kiddie Parade, hosted by the Guadalupe County Republican Women, will kick off this Saturday at 6 p.m.

Kids are invited to walk or jump on their bikes, scooters or motorized vehicles for a trek around Central Park.

Brandon Michael will take the stage to provide live music.

A special section will also be available for dancing with music by DJ D Trayne.

This year’s event includes live gaming, moon bounces, balloon animals, face painting, and several vendors selling various items.

Those wishing to learn more about the ins and outs of the annual KWED Freedom Fiesta are encouraged to pick up this month’s magazine edition of Seguin Today.

Copies are available at various locations around town or here at Seguin Radio KWED.

This year’s 4th of July celebration will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 29 in downtown Seguin.

Freedom Fiesta always marks the official kickoff for the city of Seguin’s four-day 4th of July Celebration.

Freedom Fiesta will be followed with a Patriotic Concert on Sunday, June 30; the annual Fireworks Fiesta at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 and the Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4.
