DALLAS, Texas — Texas Lutheran safety Mason Hardy (Flynn/Normangee) has been named to the American Southwest Conference’s Distinguished
Hardy, a junior during the 2023-24 academic year, was TLU’s representative among the honorees from the nine football-playing schools in the ASC. The honor marks the second straight year Hardy has represented Texas Lutheran on the Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team. Hardy will be the final Bulldog to represent TLU football on the team as the Bulldogs transition back to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2024.
Hardy holds a 3.58 grade point average as a Business Management major and Communications minor.
The Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams recognize student-athletes who achieve a high level of academic achievement (a 3.20 grade-point average or better) while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team. From that list – limited to one nominee per school in each ASC championship sport – the sports information directors from the 10 ASC member institutions and three affiliate members select a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in each sport.
Hardy also received All-ASC Third Team honors for his play on the field during the 2023 season while also earning ASC Academic All-Conference earned Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators for his performance off the field.
