SEGUIN, Texas — The Texas Lutheran volleyball program announced the 2024 schedule on Thursday. The Bulldogs will play 26 matches – 14 against SCAC opponents and 12 against non-conference foes. Only four of the Bulldogs 26 matches will be played at Memorial Gymnasium.
The schedule features five matches against teams that made the 2023 Division-III NCAA Tournament, including two conference matches against rival Trinity who finished in the top ten of the 2023 AVCA Poll.
The Bulldogs open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Trinity National Invitational in San Antonio. Texas Lutheran will take on 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifier, SUNY-Cortland, and College of Saint Benedict at 12:15 and 6 PM CST on the campus of Trinity University. TLU will conclude the weekend against 2023 American Southwest Conference champions and NCAA Tournament qualifier, East Texas Baptist on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 3:30 PM.
The first two weeks of September will be spent traveling to Georgetown/Austin and Delaware, Ohio, for tournaments. Texas Lutheran will face 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifier, Pacific Lutheran, on Sept. 7 in their final match of their tournament hosted by Southwestern University, with the match taking place at Concordia University. Texas Lutheran will then travel to Ohio for the Bishop Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan, Sept. 12-14.
Texas Lutheran’s home opener will also serve as its conference opener as they take on rival Trinity on Friday, Sept. 20 at 5 PM. It will be followed by a home match against Schreiner on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 PM.
Texas Lutheran will then begin a stretch of nine-straight matches on the road that will feature matches against the two new conference foes, Concordia (Sept. 27) and McMurry (Oct. 11), two non-conference matches against Huston-Tillotson (Oct. 2) and Randolph-Macon (Oct. 25), as well as more conference matches against Schreiner (Sept. 28), Centenary (Oct. 12), Dallas (Oct. 12), Trinity (Oct. 18), and Southwestern (Oct. 19).
The final two weeks of the regular season begins at home against Concordia on Tuesday, Oct. 29, before hosting Southwestern in the final home match of the regular season on Friday, Nov. 1. Texas Lutheran is on the road again for the final weekend of the regular season, playing Colorado College at Concordia on Nov. 8 and St. Thomas and Austin College at Concordia on Nov. 9. Eight of the Bulldogs final ten matches will be on the road.
