(San Marcos) — Seguin High School quarterback Corey Dailey has locked down his first Division-I FBS college football offer.

On Friday, Dailey earned an offer to play at Texas State University, just up the road from Seguin in San Marcos. Dailey received the offer from Bobcat head coach G. J. Kinne while attending the Texas State football camp on Friday.

Dailey has started 21 games at quarterback for Seguin. He has thrown for 3,660 yards with 43 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in two seasons as the Matador starting quarterback. In 2023, Dailey was selected as a District 12-5A honorable mention as a sophomore. As a freshman, Dailey was named the district’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year following the 2022 season.

A multi-sport athlete, Dailey also competes on the Matador basketball and baseball teams. He was named an all-district second team member on the Seguin basketball team this past winter and also earned a spot on the all-district second team for the Matador baseball team as a pitcher in the spring.

Dailey has also received college football offers from Division-I FCS schools UT-Rio Grande Valley and Incarnate Word. UTRGV is led by former Seguin High School head football coach Travis Bush. Kinne coached the UIW football team in 2022.

In his first season at Texas State in 2023, Kinne led the Bobcats to an 8-5 overall record including the program’s first ever bowl victory. Texas State concluded their 2023 season with a 45-21 win over the Rice Owls in the First Responder Bowl.

Corey Dailey is the son of Seguin head coach Craig Dailey. Craig Dailey was hired as the head football coach and athletic director at Seguin High School in March of 2021. The elder Dailey, a Seguin High School alum, also played quarterback for the Matadors before playing on the college level at Texas Lutheran University.

The Seguin Matadors will start their 2024 season on August 30th when they host the Alamo Heights Mules at Matador Stadium.
