SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran University placed 83 student-athletes on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Student-Athlete Spring Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced Friday.
A total of 694 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference. Since its inception in the fall of 1997, over 35,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.
The 694 spring honorees are the third-most for the conference since the league started listing a separate winter and spring honor roll prior to the 2015-16 academic year.
Texas Lutheran baseball, softball and men’s and women’s track and field each tallied double-digit honorees with softball leading the way with 20 honorees and women’s track and field following close behind with 19 honorees. Texas Lutheran women’s tennis finished with seven honorees, men’s and women’s golf added five honorees each while men’s tennis rounded out the Texas Lutheran honorees with one honoree.
TLU had 28\2 SCAC All-Conference honorees from 2024 that also picked up Academic Honor Roll recognition this year. SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Year Ashlyn Strother, SCAC Player of the Year Caelee Clark, SCAC Elite 19 Winner Sydney Ouellette, D3baseball.com All-Region honorees, Adam Peavy and Brendan Beard, PING All-West Region honoree Tobey Wills, and NCAA National Championship qualifiers Weston Guzman, Bryce Powell-Chimene, Justin Freeney headline the illustrious group that were named to the Academic Honor Roll and SCAC All-Conference teams.
In total, Texas Lutheran had 133 student-athletes earn SCAC Academic Honor Roll between the fall, winter and spring 2023-24 seasons.
