(Seguin) — This week’s Saturday Topic program on KWED features a conversation with a relatively new face to the local medical community. Dr. Jason Goodwin is an ear, nose and throat specialist that joined the medical staff at GRMC about a year and a half ago.
Dr. Goodwin joins us today as part of our wellness series with GRMC. Part of that effort to keep you healthy has been to introduce you to the growing number of physicians that are now practicing in Seguin.
Dr. Goodwin, a retired Air Force veteran, has a vast background in medicine. He also spent several years as a pilot in the Air Force.
“I’ve lived all over the world. I’ve lived in Japan. I’ve lived in England, in North Dakota, (and in) probably 12 different places. I’ve deployed throughout (the world). I’ve been all over the Middle East, Afghanistan, and a bunch of different wartime environments. So, my experience has been varied, from treating people at home — treating your normal routine stuff to treating wartime injuries and all the trauma that comes in through there,” said Dr. Goodwin.
Dr. Goodwin says his training and experiences over the years have helped to shape who he is as a physician now in this community.
“Going all over the world and seeing how different people work has been very beneficial. One of the main things I was able to do when I lived in England was I actually got credentialed in the British service and was actually able to work in the NHS, their health system. That’s quite a bit different than what we do here in the US. So, learning different medical systems has been very beneficial,” said Dr. Goodwin.
