Seguin invited to take a dip in the Seguin Wave Pool

Seguin invited to take a dip in the Seguin Wave Pool

(Seguin) — The Seguin Wave Pool season is officially back in action. Turning up the waves at Max Starcke Park is Nikki Berry, the athletics/aquatics superintendent for the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department. Since opening at the end of May, Berry says they have had several visitors already.

“We are open Wednesday through Sunday. We open at noon. We close to the public at 6 p.m. We are open through the end of July and then we are open a couple of weekends in August. Feel free to come on in and bring your own snacks and drinks and chairs. We also require coastguard approved life jackets for those kids who need (them) but we do have some available for use and once you are there, you are there and if you need to step out, go get a snack or anything, you can just check out at the counter and your day of admission is for all day. It’s a great deal,” said Berry.

The cost to visit the pool still remains the same this summer season. General admission is $5 for ages 4 to 11; $6 for ages 12 to 59; $5 for age 60 and over. There is also no cost for kids 3 and under.

Berry says the parks office has also sweetened up the deal for this season’s summer passes to the Wave Pool.

“This year, we did something different with the season pass. They are offering perks for those season pass holders. A family pass is $125. This includes up to six family members but just keep in mind, you don’t have to put those family members that are under the age of 3. Those family members are free all the time. An individual (season) pass is $50 so the season pass perks for both of those, we are offering two free guest passes and then four concession coupons. So, that is an $8 value in concession coupons and up to a $12 value of free guest passes. They can use those immediately,” said Berry.

Tickets are also 50 percent off for groups of 10 or more or for those who enter after 4 p.m.

Berry says a few days also remain for those looking to host a private party at the Seguin Wave Pool. Berry says those who are interested are encouraged to call the parks office or book online as soon as possible.

“If you are looking for a spot for a birthday party or corporate event, we do have a few openings available later in July for a private party and a private party entails three hour rentals 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. It’s $525 and that means the pools is all yours for your event — your bridal shower, your baby shower, your corporate event,” said Berry.

Also, to help ensure the safety of all children, Berry reminds families that kids under the age of 14 will not be admitted without an adult.

“Those age 14 and older do not need to be admitted with an adult but those under the age of 14 need to have an adult chaperone — someone there with them that is over the age of 18 that is there being responsible with them. We do encourage those under the age of 10 that a parent or guardian is within arm’s reach of them,” said Berry.

In addition to foods at the concession stand, families will also be able to get all this year’s wave pool merchandise including those swim diapers for those who leave home without one.

Special events or other offerings at the Wave Pool can be found daily on the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page.
