(Geronimo) — The Navarro ISD Board of Trustees will operate with one less school board member. On Tuesday, the school district announced the resignation of longtime trustee and board vice president Hank Dietert. Dietert’s resignation is effective immediately.
Dietert has served the Navarro ISD since his appointment in April 2013. He was subsequently elected in November 2014, and re-elected in 2018 and 2022. His current term was set to run until November 2026.
In his statement, Dietert shared what district officials say was a “heartfelt resignation of his board seat.” He states, “I have truly felt the love, commitment, and support of this community for our students of the district over the last 11 years while serving in this honorable position as a trustee and I will cherish every moment. I want to thank the community and school district from the bottom of my heart for giving me this opportunity to serve.”
He adds, “I have chosen to resign from the Navarro ISD Board of Trustees for reasons that pertain to my family and other endeavors that will take me away from my commitment
and dedication to this wonderful school district. I leave the district knowing that it is in great hands with the board of trustees and superintendent currently serving the district. I love Navarro ISD and this community and I have always loved it since the time I was a student here. I plan to stay in this community for the rest of my life. I am and will forever be a NAVARRO PANTHER.
Navarro ISD Superintendent Mandy Epley has also expressed gratitude for Dietert’s long-standing service.
In a statement to the Seguin Daily News, Epley states, “I know our community will echo my deep gratitude for Hank’s selfless service to the district and the students and families of Navarro ISD. He is a true panther as a Navarro alumni and in his commitments and legacy of living his life to serve others and support this community. We will be honoring his service at the July meeting.”
Per district policy, Dietert’s seat may be filled in the upcoming November election without the need for an interim appointment.
