(Nashville, TN) — Athletic recruitment website 247Sports came out with their Texas high school football recruit rankings this week and there’s a Seguin Matador on the list.

Speedy wide receiver Nik Henry was ranked a 3-star prospect by 247. Henry will be a senior this fall on the Matador football team. As a junior in 2023, Henry led Seguin in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. The wide-out had 35 receptions for 766 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games played.

Henry is also a stand-out track athlete. The Matador sprinter competed in the boys 100 meter dash at the UIL Class 5A state track meet in Austin on May 3rd. He finished in fifth place in the finals with a time of 10.57 seconds. Henry joined Ocean Moreno, Elliot Weaver and Kayden Holz on the Seguin boys 4X100 meter relay team, which took home the bronze medal at the state meet. The foursome finished with a time of 40.78 seconds.

On top of the news of being named a 3-star athlete, Henry received a college football offer on Tuesday from Sam Houston State. Sam Houston is the alma mater of former Matador P.J. Hall. Hall was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the then Oakland Raiders. The defensive lineman also played for the Houston Texans and recently finished playing in the United Football League this spring for the Memphis Showboats.

Nik Henry also has college football offers from Grambling State, UTEP, Montana State, Texas Southern, Air Force Academy, Army West Point, University Of Incarnate Word, Lamar University, East Central University, Texas State and Stephen F. Austin. In addition to 247, Henry has also been named a 3-star prospect by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
