City set to reopen Kids Kingdom Playscape in Starcke Park

(Seguin) — The city of Seguin is inviting the community out to the official opening of the new Kids Kingdom Playscape in Max Starcke Park.

Parks and Recreation Director Jack Jones extended the invitation during Tuesday night’s meeting of the Seguin City Council.

“Our Kids Kingdom Playscape is ready to go. It’s ready to open up this Friday, May 24 at 10 in the morning. We’re looking forward to getting the playground opened up on Friday morning for everybody. We’ll have HEB snacks donated by HEB,” said Jones.

Niagara Bottling is also expected to have a big presence in Seguin for the event. They were major contributors to the development of the playscape.

“Of course, Niagara Water will be there, because the portion of the park was funded by a Niagara Perk Your Park grant. So, we’re looking forward to (opening up the playscape).“

The grant from Niagara came as part of its Perk Your Park program, which asked for the public to vote for their favorite park projects that had been identified as part of the Perks For Parks program. Seguin’s playground project was the top vote getter in the contest, which produced money to help fund the project. The bulk of the money was provided by the city of Seguin.

Again, the official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday on the east side of Max Starcke Park.
