(Seguin) — Ten Seguin Lady Matadors received postseason recognition on the 2024 All-District 26-5A softball team in a vote by the district’s head coaches.

Senior pitcher Kendall Hurt along with junior middle infielders Chloe Belicek and Camryn Rios were named to the district’s First Team. Belicek earned the first team honors at shortstop while Rios was a first team honoree at second base. Rios established a new school single season home run record with 16 homers this season. Belicek also surpassed the old home run mark with 13 home runs on the season.

Sophomore outfielder Brylee Wieding and senior pitcher Madyson Schultze landed on the All-District Second Team. Seguin’s Honorable Mention selections include senior first baseman Graylyn Salazar, sophomore catcher Morgan Schultze, junior third baseman D’Yanna Priestly, sophomore outfielder Erin Johnston along with senior outfielder Summer Flores.

The Matadors’ Academic All-District honorees are Johnston, Priestly, Wieding, both Schultze sisters, junior Camden Mikes, along with freshman Marissa Torrence. Madyson Schultze and Summer Flores were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team. Both seniors were named academic honorable mentions.

The Lady Matadors finished tied for third place in District 26-5A with Kerrville-Tivy, going 23-13-2 overall. Seguin advanced to the Bi-District round of the UIL playoffs for the second consecutive season. The Lady Matadors are led by longtime head coach John Garcia.
