Matador Stadium to host Family Bash, Movie Night

(Seguin) — Movie night is always a special time for families including the Matador Family.

The Seguin ISD will be opening up the field at Matador Stadium for Friday’s Second Annual Matador Family Bash and Movie Night.

Seguin ISD officials say the event promises an evening of family-friendly entertainment, student showcases, and a special outdoor screening of the animated film Ratatouille.

Making sure she does not forget your cozy blanket tonight is Seguin ISD Superintendent Veronica Vijil. Dr. Vijil says this event is a wonderful opportunity for the “school community to unite, celebrate students, and create lasting memories.”

“It’s my first one so it’s just so exciting to me. It brings me back to my childhood days when mom and dad would pack the car.  We’d all get packed in the car and go to a drive-in movie and this is really great memories and I think here, we have another time for families to come together. Bring your pillows. Bring your blankets and enjoy a really great movie and family time. It’s a really great way to end the year,” said Dr. Vijil.

Bash festivities include various free games and activities for all ages. Attendees can also enjoy items from the concession stand while enjoying a variety of performances by Seguin ISD students.

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team has been instrumental in planning and organizing this year’s event. Dr. Vijil says these dedicated student leaders have worked tirelessly to ensure an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

“Come one. Come all. It’s a wonderful, wonderful event. It’s such an important weekend. We know that Mother’s Day will be Sunday so we have kind of revolved our theme around Mother’s Day and really a shout out to mother and mother figures. We will also have a booth that will have an arts and crafts session where people there can make arts and crafts for their moms or mother figures and so we are so excited. It’s such a great ending to our school year and it’s really all about the fun,” said Dr. Vijil.

District officials say Ratatouille, designed for kids of all ages,  is a heartwarming tale of a rat with culinary dreams.

The Bash will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. followed by the movie from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to all Seguin ISD families including the Seguin community.

Families are encouraged to bring their blankets, pillows or lawn chairs.
