Marie Elise Tocquigny, age 67 of Seguin, passed away on May 4, 2024. Elise was born in Weslaco, Texas on November 14, 1956, to Beverly (Stone) and Joe Raymond Tocquigny.
Elise worked with her parents, Beverly and Joe in their commercial nursery, Green Gate, in Seguin. Under her ownership, Green Gate became a thriving retail garden center that served customers throughout Central Texas and beyond. Elise could propagate any plant and freely shared that expertise.
Elise was an amazing artist and poet, who loved and appreciated everything in the natural world. She loved fiercely and in return was loved by many. Traits like compassion, selflessness, caring, and humility all exemplified Elise.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son, Isaac Babb; life partner, William “Bill” Burmeister; sisters, Yvonne Tocquigny and Sheryll Reynolds; close friend she considered as brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Merz; close friends, Jake Burmeister and James Pease; two nieces and one nephew, and a host of friends including her Green Gate Family.
Per Elise’s wishes services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to any natural conservation society of choice for the care of lands and wildlife.
