(Floresville) — Several Marion High School student-athletes will participate in the South Texas Coaches Association football and basketball all-star games at Floresville High School later this month.

Marion boys basketball player Richard Rayos and Lady Bulldog Brianna Hunter will take part in the boys and girls all-star basketball games, respectively on May 18th. The boys game will be held at noon and will be followed by the girls game at 2 p.m.

Hunter and Rayos were both First Team All-District 26-3A selections this past season. Hunter led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with a 10.6 points per contest average. Rayos topped the Bulldog boys in scoring and assists at 15 points and 3.5 assists per game.

Four Bulldog football players were selected for that all-star game to be played later that day. Chase Hallmark, Michael Purcell, Justin DeHoyos and Jaxon Garner will play in the STCA All-Star football game at Eschenburg Field at 7 p.m.

Hallmark was a first team defensive selection at defensive back and a first team offensive selection at receiver in District 13-3A last season. DeHoyos was a first team all-district selection on the offensive line. He was an honorable mention on the defensive line. Purcell was named to the second team on the offensive line and honorable mention at defensive lineman. Garner was a defensive second team member in the secondary.

Rayos, Hunter, Hallmark, Purcell, DeHoyos and Garner were recognized by their districts for their work in the classroom as well. All six student-athletes were selected to the academic all-district teams.

The South Texas Coaches Association All-Star games take place on Saturday, May 18th at Floresville High School.
