SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Texas Lutheran men’s track and field team closed out the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Track and Field Championships with a second place finish at Trinity Stadium on the campus of Trinity University on Sunday.
The Bulldogs tallied 187 points over the course of the two-day meet to claim their third consecutive second place finish.
Texas Lutheran concluded their time at the conference championship with five SCAC Champions and 15 podium finishes.
Dalon Harris (Garland/Lakeview Centennial) won the discus throw on Sunday for the Bulldogs final event win of the meet, winning the event with a mark of 45.05m (147′ 10″). Weston Geiger (Shiner/St. Paul) would join Harris on the podium with a 39.15m (128′ 5″) mark. Geiger, who tallied a bevy of points for Texas Lutheran this weekend, also added a runner-up finish in the javelin throw (52.80m, 173′ 3″) on Sunday.
Freshman Parker Cabra (Schertz/Randolph) would earn silver medals in the high jump (1.97m, 6′ 5.5″) and the 110m hurdles (15.11 seconds).
Bryce Powell-Chimene (Dayton/Dayton) finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 48.41 seconds. Weston Guzman (McAllen/McAllen) would earn a runner-up finish in the 100m dash with a time of 10.86 seconds. The 4x400m relay team comprised of Powell-Chimene, Guzman, Justin Freeney (Montgomery/Lake Creek), and Rickey Franks (Rockport/Rockport-Fulton) finished third with a time of 3:22.90.
