(Seguin) — One of Seguin’s longest running breakfast traditions returns this weekend. Kiwanis Club members will be firing up the griddles for the group’s 66th Annual Flapjack Jamboree. The drive thru event will be held from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the First Methodist Church parking lot.

Past President Amanda Dasher says for years, club members have taken care of breakfast for famlies during the last Saturday in April.

“What makes our jamboree so unique I feel is that it’s been going on for 66 years. Every year without fail, even during COVID, we made it happen. We were out there. Some of our members — Ed Engelhardt — he has been flipping pancakes for all 66 of those years. How amazing is that? So, we give out two large pancakes, two sausages and it comes with your butter and syrup,” said Dasher.

Dasher says in addition to the flapjacks, folks will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for its annual raffle. She says prizes will be drawn at the end of the event on Facebook live.

“We actually have seven total raffle items this year. It’s been amazing. We have a Blackstone Griddle, a JBL speaker, we have a Michael Kors purse, a Conseulo bag which is super super cute; we also have from local businesses Herr Beauty and Golden Locks Salon that are having a hair and style and also a customized facial; we also have a Burnt Bean gift card and a TV and surround sound,” said Dasher.

Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Both flapjack and raffle tickets can be purchased on the day of the event. First Methodist Church is located at 710 N. Austin St.
