Getting out the vote with good vibes

Peterson Brothers Band to rock local concert

(Seguin) — Only a limited number of tickets remain for this Saturday’s Get Out The Vote Concert in Seguin. The Guadalupe County Democratic Party is hosting the concert at the Texas Theater.

Fundraising Chair Sara Askey says taking the stage and providing live music will be the Peterson Brothers Band. Askey says the band not only is very talented but has a strong following.

“They are brothers, Glenn Peterson Jr. and Alex Peterson. They live in Bastrop and they are notorious for playing like at Gruene Hall and in Austin. They have this amazing energy. They are laid back, calm, cool and collected but they love to groove to soul and funk and blues and jazz. I saw them when they first started coming out in Gruene Hall and they were 14 and 15 years old. I believe they are like 27, 28 — in that age range now. They just had their first album out and they are all over — all over the state so it’s kind of fun,” said Askey.

Although this area has a strong Republican presence, Askey says all voices matter and believes that everyone can get along in sharing the Get Out the Vote message.

“We want everyone to be able to get out the vote. We want to enlighten and inspire people and engage them. We can have a conversation. We can get along is what I’m saying. We all need our voices heard and we all need to get out and get the vote out and enjoy it and hopefully remember that we have November elections coming up and we have a run-off here on May 28th as well locally,” said Askey.

The concert gets underway at 7 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Balcony tickets are $25 each or $35 on the floor. Student balcony tickets for those between the ages of 18 and 23 are $10 each.

Online tickets can be purchased on eventbrite.com. A link is also available on the Guadalupe County Democratic Party Facebook page.
