(San Marcos) — The Seguin Lady Matadors saw their 2024 season come to a close as the Liberty Hill Lady Panthers rallied past Seguin, 11-10 on Friday night to win their Class 5A Bi-District series 2-0 at San Marcos High School.

Liberty Hill, the champions of District 25-5A, scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to go out in front, 11-10. The Lady Matadors would load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning, but the Lady Panthers got a groundout to third base on the game’s final play to come away with the series victory.

Seguin got home runs from sophomores Erin Johnston, Morgan Schultze and Brylee Weiding in the defeat. The game was the last for Seguin seniors Graylyn Salazar, Summer Flores, Kendall Hurt and Madyson Schultze. Schultze went the distance in the circle on Friday night, striking out four Lady Panthers.

The Lady Matadors finished the season tied for third in District 25-5A. Seguin had a 23-13-2 overall record this season.

(San Antonio) — The Navarro Lady Panthers also saw their season end on Friday night with an 18-0 loss to Comal Davenport in game two of that Class 4A Bi-District series. The Lady Wolves won the series, 2-0. Navarro finished third this season in District 28-4A.

(Columbus) — And the Marion Lady Bulldogs were eliminated in the Class 3A playoffs by Tidehaven on Friday, dropping both games of a double header in their Bi-District series Friday in Columbus. The Tigerettes won game one, 10-1 and followed with a 9-3 win in game two to take the series 2-0.

Tidehaven, the fourth place team from District 25-3A took down the top-seeded Lady Bulldogs from District 26-3A. Marion earned the district championship losing only one game in district play this season.

In high school baseball:

(Boerne) — The Seguin Matadors finished the District 26-5A season in a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Seguin fell 8-3 to the district’s top team, Boerne-Champion in Boerne on Friday night. The loss by Seguin coupled with wins by Kerrville-Tivy and New Braunfels Canyon on Friday creates a tie between all three teams for fourth place.

A coin toss will be held with a representative from all three schools on Saturday at 6 p.m. Each representative will toss their coins until two schools match tosses. Those two schools will face off in an elimination game. And then the winner of that game will face the third team for a trip to the Bi-District round. Games are expected to be played at the San Antonio sports complex on Monday.

And the Navarro and Marion baseball teams have clinched spots in the playoffs. They will start their respective Bi-District series next Thursday.
