(Boerne) — Seguin Lady Matador Camryn Rios continues to leave vapor trails off the crack of her bat.

Rios blasted three home runs for the Lady Matadors in a 16-6 win at Boerne-Champion on Friday night. Chole Belicek also went yard for Seguin in the victory.

The Lady Matadors wrap the district season in a tie for third place in District 26-5A with Kerrville-Tivy. Both the Lady Mats and Lady Antlers finished with a 9-5 district mark. Smithson Valley won the district while San Antonio Veterans Memorial finished second. All four teams will play in the UIL Bi-District round of the playoffs next week.

In the high school baseball:

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panthers run-ruled San Antonio Memorial, 17-0 in five innings on Senior Night Friday at Navarro High School.

Senior outfielder Landun Taylor hit his second home run of the season in his final regular season home game in Geronimo. Taylor would touch all four bases and score on another hit following throwing errors by Memorial fielders. Colt Brown stayed hot at the plate with a double and a triple. The junior hit a grand slam on Tuesday of this week in a Panther run-rule victory over Cuero.

Maddux Adams and Noah Rosas combined for the shutout. Adams struck out seven in three innings of work. Rosas fanned three in two innings of relief.

The Panthers have clinched second place in District 28-4A. They will compete in the Bi-District round in two weeks. Memorial and Navarro will meet in another district matchup on Tuesday in San Antonio.

(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs wrapped another perfect District 26-3A season with a 13-2 rout of Randolph on Senior Night in Marion on Friday.

The victory was the 45th straight district win for the Marion baseball program. The Bulldogs have not lost a district game since their last regular season game in the 2019 season. Marion will play a non-district game with Cornerstone Christian in Marion on Tuesday.

(Seguin) — And the Canyon Cougars avoided elimination from the playoffs with a 7-2 win over the Seguin Matadors at Smokey Joe Williams Field on Friday night.

After beating the Cougars in New Braunfels on Tuesday, the Matadors had a chance to clinch a playoff berth while eliminating Canyon on Friday but Cougars are still in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district with their victory. Seguin still leads Canyon by one game with two games left to play.

Seguin will play Boerne-Champion for two games next week while Canyon plays two with San Antonio Wagner to close the district season. The Matadors will host the Chargers this coming Tuesday night at Smokey Joe. We will have that game on KWED.
