(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panthers are at home in Geronimo tonight for Senior Night to take on the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen in a game you can hear on KWED.
The Panthers are in the postseason. Navarro will be the second seed out of District 28-4A when the UIL Bi-District playoffs take place in two weeks.
Tonight will be the final regular season game at Navarro High School for Panther seniors Ryan Tatom, Quad Fortezzo, Gavin Newborg and Landun Taylor. Navarro head baseball coach Justin Dunnam says he’s excited about the futures of his seniors.
“Landun committed to Eastern Baptist in Mississippi. We’re excited for that for him. Ryan and Gavin and Quad, they’ve got aspirations to be successful in life once they leave here,’ Dunnam said. “And if they take the work ethic they’ve had for four years in baseball and apply it to life outside of here, they’re gonna be a success in no matter what they choose.
“That’s what we always talk about, (Athletic Director Rod) Blount preaches it. Winning games is great but if we don’t have young men go out and contribute positively to the world, why are we here? And when you add in Antwoin Mebane as our manager, those five have great futures ahead of them just because of the ways they conduct themselves and the way they work. And we’re proud to get be around them for the last couple of years.”
We will visit more with coach Dunnam tonight during our Panther pregame coverage which starts at 6:45 p.m. on KWED. We’ll have first pitch between the Panthers and Minutemen at 7 O’clock on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
