(Seguin) — The Seguin Art League will host its Paint Out and Wet Paint Sale in downtown Seguin. Artists of all painting mediums including pastel, pen and ink, and photography are invited to create a work of art on Saturday, April 20 during the paint out from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The artwork will then be for sale and judged the following Saturday on April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“The Seguin Art League likes to emphasize the charm and beauty of our historical downtown Seguin. So every year we invite artists using oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil, ink, or photography to join our event to paint Seguin right in front of you in eight hours start to finish. You can talk to our artists while they paint or photograph scenes. Then on April 27, vote on which interpretation you think is best,” said Clara Mae Marcotte, President of the Seguin Art League.
After checking in with the Art League, the artists will scope out downtown Seguin to find their subject. The subject has to fit the theme of Our Town: Seguin. The artwork will need to be completed and turned into the Art League by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.
The application to participate can be found on the League’s web site, www.seguinartleague.com <http://www.seguinartleague.com>. The application fee is $25 for non-members and $20 for members. The application fee and application can be turned into the art league Tuesday through Saturday when the gallery is open.
The artwork will be judged, and prizes will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.
Artists of all skill levels are invited to participate.
“In past years we’ve even had students and beginning artists. The idea is to have a good time, interact with the public, and enjoy what Seguin has to offer,” said Marcotte.
The Wet Paint Sale on the sidewalk in front of the gallery will be held in conjunction with Seguin Main Street’s Spring Trade Days and Earth Day Festival being held in Central Park. In addition to viewing and purchasing the artwork, the public can shop with over 80 Trade Day vendors and interact with over 20 Earth Day exhibitors.
