Tickets now on sale for Seguin Hispanic Chamber's annual awards banquet

(Seguin) — The Seguin-Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is inviting its members and the community to its 35th Annual Awards Banquet. The banquet is scheduled for Thursday night at the Seguin Coliseum.

Helping to plan for the event is newly appointed Chamber Chairwoman Christina Krueger. Although new to the current board of directors, Krueger is no stranger to the local Hispanic chamber. Krueger held the same position nearly 10  years ago. Taking over the reigns this time, however, is still pretty exciting for Krueger. Krueger says the future is bright and looks forward to taking the chamber in a new direction.

“I’m excited to come back helping in a leadership position here at the chamber. I look forward — pre COVID — it affected businesses in a lot of different ways. It affected the chamber drastically because we worked off of a lot of volunteers and COVID kind of changed everybody’s life. Coming back 10 years later, here I am again. I just want to get the chamber back on track, working with its members. We are excited.

This is our 35th annual banquet so that’s just kind of that nostalgia of having an entity — that throughout the years, I’ve seen the different changes within the chamber and the different things that it does for businesses so I’m excited just to kind of regroup. I want to definitely get back in touch with the community, the businesses and see what we need to do to help them in this new, I guess, business environment, I would say. Post COVID changed I think the way people operate their businesses and it’s a different workforce now so just kind of making those adjustments and we at the chamber will be making those adjustments as well,” said Krueger.

Being on hand for a 35 year milestone is even more special for Krueger. She says it’s important to applaud and recognize those who continue to keep the community in business.

“We are going to see everything from corporate awards given to your local business man and business woman of the year. We are going to be recognizing some great companies and entities like in the humanitarian arena as well as recognizing just groups that are just making a change within our community. As we know, Seguin is growing consistently. We can look around and there are developments in every part of the city so we want to take this time to recognize those businesses that are operating within our community to make it prosperous and grow,” said Krueger.

Krueger says the night, of course, will not be all business but a fun way to enjoy the evening with others.

“That evening, we are going to have a social hour beginning with just a brief little networking mixer. We are actually going to have an amazing speaker and it’s going to be Rudy Garza. He is the keynote speaker that night and he is the CEO and President figure with CPS Energy and so we are very excited. He’s going to give us some background information on energy across Texas which I think is something that we all want to talk about and like I said, that evening, we are also going to have dinner that’s going to be catered by Davila’s BBQ and we will have entertainment by the Seguin (High School) Mariachi Band as well,” said Krueger.

The chamber banquet will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Tickets to the event are $35 each and can be purchased from any board of director or at the Hispanic chamber office located at 971 W. Court St. They can also be picked up or delivered by calling 830-372-3151.
