Marion Lady Bulldogs host Luling in a battle for first place in district tonight on KWED

(Marion) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs will host the Luling Lady Eagles in a battle for first place in District 26-3A tonight on KWED.

Marion and Luling are in first and second in the district with one week left in the regular season. Both teams have clinched playoff spots. The Lady Bulldogs are 5-1 while the Lady Eagles are 4-1. Marion’s only loss in the district season came to Luling on March 26th at Luling High School.

The Lady Bulldogs have swung the bat well this season. Marion is batting .389 as a team and they’ve slugged nine home runs.

We’ll have tonight’s game on KWED. First pitch between the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Eagles is set for 6 O’clock with our Marion softball pregame at around 5:45 on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.

(San Antonio) — The Seguin Lady Matadors, still fighting for a playoff spot in District 26-5A, are in San Antonio tonight to take on San Antonio Veterans Memorial.

The Lady Mats are currently tied for fourth in the district with New Braunfels Canyon with three games left in the regular season. Both teams are 6-5. The Lady Patriots are 8-3 and in second place, two games behind first place Smithson Valley.

Tonight’s game between the Lady Matadors and Lady Patriots gets underway at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial High School.

(La Vernia) — And the Navarro Lady Panthers, already in the Class 4A playoffs, are on the road at La Vernia tonight.

The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Bears, 8-7 in Geronimo on March 25th. Tonight’s game takes place at 7 O’clock at La Vernia High School.

In high school baseball:

(San Antonio) — The Seguin Matadors will look for a two-game sweep of Veterans Memorial when they take on the Patriots in San Antonio tonight.

The Mats scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Patriots, 5-4 on Tuesday at Smokey Joe Williams Field. Senior Kayden Holz smashed a bases clearing double to tie the game before coming home later in the inning with the winning run.

Seguin is currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district with New Braunfels Canyon. Both teams are 4-5 with five games left in the regular season. The Cougars and Matadors will meet for two games next week. Canyon hosts first place Smithson Valley tonight. The Rangers are unbeaten in district play.

Tonight’s game between Seguin and Veterans Memorial gets started at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial High School.

(Cuero) — The Navarro Panthers, second in District 28-4A, can get closer to a playoff berth tonight in Cuero when they take on their rival, the Cuero Gobblers.

Navarro is 4-2 in district. Cuero is right behind the Panthers in third at 3-3. La Vernia is first in the district at 6-0.

Tonight’s first pitch between the Panthers and Gobblers takes place at 7 O’clock at Cuero High School.

(Marion) — And the Marion Bulldogs are in the playoffs again. They will host Luling this afternoon.

The Bulldogs are unbeaten in District 26-3A at 7-0. Marion hasn’t lost a district game since the 2019 season.

Marion and Luling will get their game started at 5 O’clock this afternoon at Marion High School.
