(New Braunfels) — The Seguin Matador track & field squad qualified a number of student-athletes for the regional meet after stellar performances at the UIL Class 5A area meet at New Braunfels Canyon High School on Wednesday.
Ocean Moreno will be competing in three events at the regionals. Moreno finished second in the 200 meter dash to move on to regionals. He was also a part of the 4X200 meter relay team along with Sammy Body, Elliot Weaver and Nik Henry, which won the area championship. Moreno, Henry, Weaver and Kayden Holz teamed to win the 4X100 relay to qualify for regionals. Henry also won the 100 meter dash.
Daisha Shular won the 100 and the 200 meter dash on the girls side to qualify for the regional meet in both events. Shular also qualified for regionals in the long jump with a fourth place finish. Leah Brown won the girls triple jump and Zoe Seldon placed fourth in the shot put to round out Seguin regional qualifiers.
The Class 5A Region IV meet will be held starting next Friday at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
(New Braunfels) — The Navarro Panther track team competed at the Class 4A area meet also held at New Braunfels Canyon High School on Wednesday.
Among Panther qualifiers were Xavier Cropper, who finished third in the boys 400 meter dash, along with Ethan Luu who also took third in the 3200 meter run. Jacob Arias finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. And the Navarro 4X400 relay team also took fourth place.
The UIL Class 4A Region IV track meet will be held next Friday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
(Altair) — And there are several Marion Bulldog track & field athletes competing in the Class 3A area meet today. That meet is taking place at Rice Consolidated High School in Altair.
