(Geronimo) — There’s Friday night baseball on the air tonight on KWED as the Navarro Panthers host San Antonio Kennedy at Navarro High School.

Both teams are 2-2 in District 28-4A and two games behind first place La Vernia as the second round of district play gets underway tonight. Justin Dunnam, who took over the Navarro baseball program this year, says his team is continuing the rich tradition established at Navarro High School.

“Most of the young men know me. I’ve been around them since they were freshman,” Dunnam said. “When you take over a program that has a rich history such as Navarro, you don’t want to come in and make too many changes but the kids make it easy. They play at a high level. We’re 15-5 and off to a great start.”

Tonight’s game is the first of two between the Panthers and Rockets. The teams will meet again on Tuesday in San Antonio.

It’s Little League Night tonight in Geronimo. There’s free admission for little leaguers who wear their uniforms to the game.

We’ll have all the action for you on KWED. First pitch is set for 7 o’clock with our Panther pregame coverage starting at 6:45 this evening where we’ll chat more with coach Dunnam on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com
