(Frisco) — The Navarro girls powerlifting team had an outstanding performance at the women’s state powerlifting meet on Friday in Frisco.
Three Lady Panthers finished in the top five of the state and two state records were set. Haley Karlik finished in fourth place in the 132-pound weight class. Karlik set a new state record with a 255-pound bench press. Kaiya Castle was fifth in the 165-pound weight class. She earned the award for the Most Outstanding Deadlift out of all heavy platforms. Gabby Geipel was a fifth place finisher in the 148-pound weight class. And Maggie Patlan set a state record in the 242-pound weight class with a bench press of 255 pounds.
The Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet was held this past Friday and Saturday at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
