(Austin) — Just an hour from Seguin, street art and electronic dance music are set to collide this weekend as ILLfest kicks off for a two-day musical experience. The event is set to start its sixth year on March 9 and 10 at the Concourse Project Festival Grounds in Austin, where attendees will experience music, street art, and more than a little Texas EDM culture.
After taking a year off, this year’s festival organizers Disco Donnie Presents (DDP) are excited to work with the ILLfest team to take it to the next level. In part, they plan to do this through custom mural exhibits painted specifically for the occasion.
“Each year ILLfest exhibits over 6,000+ square feet of newly created mural art walls, and boasts over 30,000+ square feet of world-renown muralist pieces in its collection,” DDP said. “In total, the festival has experienced five editions, each one more vibrant and artistically boundless than the last.”
With only two days of festival to pack in as much art and music as possible, ILLfest has cultivated a lineup with names EDM fans will recognize, with Rezz headlining on Saturday and Black Tiger Sex Machine on Sunday. Other notable performers include Champagne Drip, Tape B, Dab the Sky, Dr. Fresch, Virtual Riot, Nostalgix, Space Wizard with more recently added.
“ILLfest is excited to introduce the following exciting additions to the 2024 lineup,” DDP said. “Get ready to groove to the beats of Sidepiece as they join the stellar roster of artists set to captivate the audience. Isenberg is set to bring his unique talent, adding to the already incredible musical journey that awaits festival-goers. Keep an eye out for emerging talents including Havoc, Emski, Spades and more.”
Guadalupe County residents who travel to Austin will find a host of music-centered events over the weekend as the city also kicks off its annual SXSW conference, which draws crowds from all over the country and runs March 8 – 16.
The official ILLfest pre-party events kick off Friday night, with DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal – yes, SHAQ!) appearing with Jantsen at the Concourse Project. Tickets for ILLfest are available at illfest.com, where lineups, merch, and more information are also available.
