High school basketball schedule: Marion and Navarro girls in the playoffs, Lady Panthers play on KWED tonight

Navarro Lady Panther head coach Darrell Harborth addresses his team during a game at New Braunfels High School.

(Floresville) — We have high school playoff basketball on the air tonight as the Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers will meet the Cuero Lady Gobblers in the Bi-District round in Floresville.

Tonight’s match-up is the third meeting of the year between the schools. Cuero beat Navarro 32-30 in the season opener for both teams back on November 7th. The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Gobblers on December 2nd, 38-36 in the Runnin’ Lady Panther Classic Championship Game. Last year, the teams met in the Bi-District round with Navarro winning, 47-34.

Cuero is ranked 14th in the latest Class 4A state coaches’ poll. They were the champions of District 28-4A.

Navarro finished tied for third with Wimberley in District 27-4A. Tegan Harborth and Sienna Kramer lead the Lady Panther attack, averaging around 15 and 10 points per game respectively.

Tonight’s playoff between Navarro and Cuero will tip at 7 O’clock and we’ll have the game on KWED. Our Lady Panther pregame will start at 6:50 p.m. this evening from Floresville High School on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.

(Seguin) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs are in the playoffs as well. They will play Edna in the Bi-District round in Seguin tonight.

Marion finished third in District 26-3A. Edna tied for first with Hallettsville in District 25-3A, but lost a tie-breaker game to the Lady Brahmas for the district’s top seed.

The Lady Bulldogs are led by Brianna Hunter, who averages 10.6 points per game. Breelon Allen drops in 8.4 points per contest.

Tonight’s Bi-District game between Marion and Edna will be held at Goldie Harris Gym. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.

On the boys side:

(Spring Branch) — The Seguin Matadors are still alive for a playoff spot heading into the last game of their regular season.

The Mats, in fifth place in District 26-5A, beat fourth place Pieper last Friday to move within a game of the fourth and final playoff spot in the district. Seguin closes the regular season on the road tonight at 8th-place Smithson Valley while Pieper hosts 3rd-place San Antonio Wagner.

The Mats beat the Rangers, 68-59 on January 19th at Goldie Harris Gym. The Warriors lost a close one to the Thunderbirds, 48-46 in San Antonio last month.

A win by Seguin and a loss by Pieper tonight will force a play-in game for the final playoff spot in the district later this week. The Mats and Rangers tip off at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Smithson Valley High School.

(Fredericksburg) — The Navarro Panthers will close out their season tonight. Navarro is in the Hill Country to battle the Fredericksburg Billies. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. at Fredericksburg High School.

(Marion) — And the Marion Bulldogs will finish the regular season tonight with a playoff tune-up against the first-place team in District 26-3A, the San Antonio Cole Cougars.

The Bulldogs have already clinched the third-place spot in the district. They will play in the Boys’ Bi-District round next week.

Tonight’s Marion Bulldog Senior Night game against Cole tips at 7:30 p.m. at Marion High School.
