(Boerne) — Seguin Lady Matador Desiree Zuniga made history in Boerne on Tuesday night, knocking down her 100th three-point shot on the season against the Champion Lady Chargers. Champion won the game, 66-44.

Freshman Britlyn Walls led Seguin with 18 points, while the senior Zuniga dropped in 14 in her last game as a Lady Matador. The Lady Mats conclude their season with nine wins.

(Seguin) — Meanwhile the three-point shots were falling for the Boerne-Champion boys as they took down the Seguin Matadors, 66-51 Tuesday night at Goldie Harris Gym.

The Class 5A 13th-ranked Chargers hit 12 three-pointers as a team lead by Quinn Gable who had seven treys and a game high 30 points. Seguin was led by Corey Dailey who poured in 18. John Jackson had 17 for the Matadors.

In another important game in District 26-5A Tuesday night, the Pieper Warriors held off Smithson Valley 58-57. The win by Pieper coupled with Seguin’s loss leaves the Matadors two games behind the Warriors for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district with two games left to play. Seguin will host Pieper on Friday night.

Three-pointers were dropping in Marion last night as well.

(Marion) — The Marion boys established a team record for three-pointers in a game on Tuesday night as they reached the century mark in dispatching Luling, 100-45 in Marion.

The Bulldogs drained 19 three-point shots in the game to establish a new school mark. Five Bulldogs reached double figures in the win. Braeden Fleming led the way with 22 points. Richie Rayos had 19. Levi Gutz dropped in 16. Travis Randle added 12. And Jackson Missildine had 10 points.

The Bulldogs clinched the third seed out of District 26-3A with the victory. The Boys Bi-District round starts on February 19th. Marion will host Randolph on Friday night at Marion High School in a game you can hear on KWED.

Meanwhile in the first game of a doubleheader in Marion, the Lady Bulldogs blasted Luling 58-24 to wrap District 26-3A play on Tuesday night.

The Marion girls finish as the third seed out of the district. They will play the second-place team from District 25-3A which will either be Hallettsville or Edna. The Lady Brahmas and the Cowgirls finished tied for first place in that district. They will have a playoff to determine the top seed out of the district and the loser will play Marion next week in the Bi-District round. The Lady Bulldogs played Halllettsville last year in the Bi-District round, coming up short in a close loss.

(Geronimo) — And the Navarro Lady Panthers, who wrapped their season on Monday, finished in a tie for third place in District 27-4A with Wimberley. A tie-breaker game could be played between the Lady Texans and Lady Panthers to determine the three seed in the district.

Navarro’s potential Bi-District opponents from District 28-4A would be either first place Cuero or second place La Vernia. The Lady Panthers beat Cuero last year in the Bi-District round.
