Lotte Renee Reams McFarland
Renee McFarland, age 77 of Kingsbury, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on January 28, 2024, at home surrounded by her family and friends after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born in Rocksprings, Texas on January 26, 1947, where she spent her early years living on a ranch managed by her father. The family then moved to Del Rio, Texas where she attended elementary school, and junior high school, and graduated from Del Rio High School class of 1964. She then attended San Angelo Junior College for a year before transferring to Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1968.
She married Jim McFarland in the summer of 1968 and worked in College Station while Jim was finishing his degree from Texas A&M University. They moved numerous times as Jim was in the oil and natural gas business living in Fritch, Texas, Lovington, New Mexico, Midland, Texas, Houston Texas and finally Kingsbury, Texas. Later in life, Renee attended Prairie View A&M and received her teaching certificate. She enjoyed teaching at Vogel and Mary B. Erskine Elementary Schools in the Seguin Independent School District, where she made many lifelong friendships with the teachers, administrators, and staff of each school. Along the way, she gave birth to two sons Jason and Jeremy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russel Reams and Lucille Cowsert Reams of Belmont, Texas, and brother Rusty Reams of Belmont, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Jim of Kingsbury, Texas, son Jason and wife Michelle and two granddaughters Ainslee and Maddie of Tomball, Texas, son Jeremy and wife Amy, grandsons Jonah and Wyatt, and granddaughters Chloe and Molly of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law Jack McFarland and wife Dana of Houston, Texas, sister-in-law Marcy White McFarland of San Antonio, Texas, sister-in-law Charlene Reams Manning of Georgetown, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church Seguin, Texas on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nick Hart and the Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be held at a later date.
