(Geronimo) — Navarro High School senior Houston Berry declared on X on Monday where he will be playing college football.

The Panther two-way player announced that he has signed with West Texas A&M University. The Buffaloes are a Division II team. They play in the Lone Star Conference which includes schools from Texas, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. West Texas A&M is located in Canyon, Texas which is 19 miles south of Amarillo.

The Buffaloes went 3-7 last season and finished tied for 6th place in the conference with a 2-6 record. West Texas A&M is lead by head coach Josh Lynn.

In eight games this past season, Berry had 18 tackles with one for loss and a blocked punt from his defensive line position. Berry earned second team All-District 13-4A accolades as an offensive lineman and was named honorable mention on the defensive line. He also earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team.

Berry is the second Navarro Panther to make a college football commitment in the last month. Berry’s teammate, quarterback Colton Schuelke committed to D-III McMurry University in Abilene on Christmas Day. Schuelke was also an all-district second team selection and academic team honoree like Berry.
