(Kyle) — The Seguin Matador powerlifting team had a strong showing at the Lehman Lobo Kickoff Meet in Kyle on Saturday.

James Medrano and Gabe Soliz both won their weight classes at the meet. Medrano took first in the 114-pound weight class. Medrano lifted 415 pounds in the squat, 225 pounds in the bench press and 425 pounds in the dead lift for a total of 1065 pounds.

Soliz finished first in the 123-pound weight class. Soliz lifted 335 pounds in the squat, 195 pounds in the bench and 330 pounds in the dead lift for a combined 860 pounds.

Others competing for Seguin High School at the meet included:

Eduardo Cerna – 6th in the 148-pound class

Angel Ray Perez – 4th in the 181-pound class

Mason Manzur – 5th in the 181-pound class

Matthew Koehler – 4th in the 242-pound class

Hunter Mica – 6th in the 242-pound class

Joseph Ramirez – 8th in the 242-pound class

Carter Dunn – 3rd in the 275-pound class
