SEGUIN, Texas — The Texas Lutheran softball team and head coach Wade Wilson announced the program’s 2024 schedule Wednesday. TLU’s slate will feature 13 games at Ed Kruse Stadium.
Opening day is scheduled for Feb. 6 at Ed Kruse Stadium against NCAA Division-II opponent, St. Mary’s. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play will begin March 15.
The Bulldogs will play five schools that reached the 2023 NCAA Tournament including a 2023 Marshall Regional rematch with Belhaven. Four of Texas Lutheran’s contests are against opponents that were ranked in the final 2023 NFCA poll.
The Bulldogs have reached the NCAA Tournament in the last nine seasons under Wade Wilson with trips to NCAA Super Regionals in three of the last four seasons and three Division-III WCWS appearances, winning the national championship in 2019.
Texas Lutheran begins the 2024 season at Ed Kruse Stadium with a doubleheader against 2023 Division-II NCAA Tournament qualifier, St. Mary’s University on Feb. 6. The rest of February will see the Bulldogs on the road against American Southwest Conference competition – facing Mary Hardin-Baylor (Feb. 10), LeTourneau (Feb. 23), and UT-Dallas (Feb. 24) in non-conference doubleheaders.
TLU will play in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, Mar. 1-3 and will face Belhaven, Babson, Illinois Wesleyan, Chapman, Case Western Reserve, and DePauw. Texas Lutheran has faced all six teams at least once in the last three seasons.
Texas Lutheran will conclude non-conference play with a doubleheader against future SCAC foe, Concordia (TX), on Mar. 12.
Texas Lutheran will begin SCAC play with a three game series against Southwestern in Georgetown March 15-16. TLU will continue their SCAC-opening road trip against University of Dallas March 22-23.
TLU returns home for a five game homestand starting with a doubleheader against Texas A&M – San Antonio (Mar. 26) followed by a three-game series against Austin College (Mar. 28-29).
The Bulldogs travel to Kerrville to face Schreiner (Apr. 6-7) before returning to Ed Kruse Stadium for a six-game homestand against Centenary (Apr. 12-13) and Trinity (Apr. 19-20).
Texas Lutheran closes the regular season in Houston in a three-game series against St. Thomas in a rematch of the 2023 SCAC Championship the weekend of April 26-27.
Postseason play begins with the 2024 SCAC Tournament hosted by Texas Lutheran in Seguin May 3-5 as TLU looks to secure its ninth conference title in the last ten competed tournaments. NCAA Regionals will be played May 17-19 at host institutions with Super Regionals scheduled for May 24-25.
The 2024 Division-III Women’s College World Series will be held in Marshall, Texas, for the second consecutive season May 30-June 5 as TLU pursues its second national championship.
