(Seguin) – Seguin Radio KWED is getting a head start in thanking its sponsors for this year’s Holiday Food and Toy Drive. The collection effort for the Seguin Police Department’s Blue Santa Program and Christian Cupboard gets underway this Friday from 7 to 9 a.m. outside our studios at 609 E. Court St.
Year after year, a crowd of community members and leaders gather outside in the middle of the street collecting cash, checks, food, and toys. Although hosted by the media team, it’s our sponsor partners who help ensure transportation for the donations along with refreshments for volunteers and the 100 plus students who also come out that day to perform holiday music or who stop by to lend a hand.
This year’s thanks go to Beck and Beck Buick GMC in Seguin, Steele Hyundai in New Braunfels; Joe Cools A/C and Heating, Buddy’s Home Furnishings; Bill Miller’s Barbecue; Walmart; Su Casa Café; Dutch Bros Coffee and The Palms.
A special thanks also goes out in advance to the Seguin High School Matador Band and Seguin High School Choir who will be performing live in our front parking lot from 7 to 8 a.m. Following Seguin, will be the Navarro Jazz Band and Navarro Elementary School Choir who will be providing the sounds of the season from 8 to 9 a.m.
The annual KWED Holiday Food and Toy Drive remains the largest community driven collection effort in Seguin.
