(Seguin) — An off-duty Seguin police officer was arrested by the New Braunfels Police Department on Sunday evening for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
Jose Ricardo Zapata, who is a four-year veteran of the Seguin Police Department, was arrested at 11:43 p.m. Sunday. The 25-year old was transported and booked into the Comal County Jail.
A press release issued Monday by the city of Seguin stated that the Seguin Police Department has placed Zapata on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

“Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard, and we take this matter seriously. We will cooperate fully with the New Braunfels Police Department investigation, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken based on the findings.” said Chief Brady.
