(Seguin) — Seguin High School senior running back John Jackson has been invited to play in the Podyum Preps All-American Bowl in Miami Beach, Florida in January. Jackson made the announcement on social media on Monday.
The all-star game is part of a four-day event January 4th through the 7th. Participants will be evaluated by scouts from all levels of NCAA football.
Jackson finished his senior season at Seguin with a single season program record 1784 yards rushing. He averaged 8.7 yards per carry and lead the Matadors with 17 touchdowns during the 2023 season. Jackson was a Second Team All-District 12-5A selection in 2022 as a junior, leading the Matadors in rushing with 798 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2021, Jackson topped 1000 yards on the ground as a sophomore with 1118 yards to go along with another nine scores.
Jackson is also a star athlete for the Seguin basketball team. He was named the District 26-5A Offensive MVP during his junior season. Jackson averaged over 21 points per game and passed the 1000 point plateau in his career during a 90-89 Seguin victory over Converse Judson on December 8th, 2022. Jackson and the Matador boys basketball team will start the 2023-24 season next Tuesday night at Goldie Harris Gym when they host Young Men’s Leadership Academy.
Jackson has a long list of schools seeking out his football talents. He has received college football offers from Minot State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Fairmont State, East Central University, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Southeastern Oklahoma State and McMurry University.
Players at the Podyum Preps All-American Bowl will be coached by active college coaches as well as former NFL players and coaches. The all-star game will be held at Ted Hendricks Stadium in Miami Beach.
