Navarro's Ethan Luu places in top 10 at state cross country meet while Kelli Cielencki represents Marion

(Round Rock) — The UIL State Cross Country State Championships were held this past Friday and Saturday with a couple of area student-athletes competing.

Navarro High School’s Ethan Luu finished in 10th place in the Class 4A Division on Saturday in the boys’ 5K race with a time of 16:02.40. Luu qualified for the state meet by finishing fourth at the Class 4A UIL Region IV meet at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday last month.

Luu finishes an extraordinary 2023 cross country season. The junior finished first at the at the District 27-4A meet in Bandera on October 12th. He also won gold at the San Marcos Runnin’ Rattler Invitational on September 9th.

On Friday at the state meet, Marion High School’s Kelli Cielencki placed 78th in the girls 3A 3200 meter race. The senior crossed the finish line with a time of 13:13.5 improving on her time of 13 minutes and 22.39 seconds at the UIL Region IV Class 3A Regional Cross Country Meet at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on October 23rd.
