(Manor) — The Navarro Panthers finished the 2023 regular season with an impressive 59-6 win at Manor New Tech this past Friday.
Senior quarterback Colton Schuelke threw two touchdown passes. On the ground, the Panthers ran for 265 yards out of their slot-t offense lead by sophomore Mason Harvey who had 71 yards on just three carries. Senior Antwoin Mebane scored on a 65-yard TD run. Senior Nick Schwarzlose and sophomore Max Stalnaker each caught touchdown passes for the Panthers.
Navarro’s defense scored on three pick-sixes in the game from sophomore Austin Davidson and seniors Jacob Arias and Gabe Rangel. With the win, the Panthers finish the season 7-3 overall and 4-1 in District 13-4A.
Navarro will now play in the UIL Class 4A Bi-District round this Friday against Young Men’s Leadership Academy. The game will be held at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio and will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. We will have the game for you on KWED.
(Luling) — And the Marion Bulldogs are back in the postseason after clinching a spot in the Class 3A playoffs with a 35-6 win on Friday night on the road at Luling.
Junior running back Christian Sanchez ran for 102 yards and scored three touchdowns. Senior Aidan Batey blocked a punt for the Bulldog special teams and junior linebacker Hadley Mote established the Marion single season tackle record finishing with 126 for the season.
The Bulldogs will next play Jourdanton this Thursday night at Judson ISD Stadium in the Class 3A Bi-District round. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and we’ll have that game for you on KWED.
