(Corpus Christi) — Navarro cross country runner Ethan Luu qualified for the state cross country meet with a fourth place finish at the Class 4A UIL Region IV meet at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

Luu crossed the finish line in the 5K course with a time of 16:26.43. The junior placed fourth out of 172 runners in the boys 4A division. Luu will now advance to the State Meet on Saturday, November 4th at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. Back on October 12th, Luu won the gold at the District 27-4A meet in Bandera.

Luu will join Marion’s Kelli Cielencki at the state meet. The Lady Bulldog senior qualified for the state meet after her performance at the Region IV Class 3A regional on Monday. The 3A girls state race will take place next Thursday, November 2nd in Round Rock.

In the girls 4A regional two-mile race, the Navarro Lady Panthers finished in seventh place as a team. They were lead by Lilia Flo in 27th place (12:58.20) and Madi Gilliam in 28th place (13:00.20). Linlee Sturm- 44th place (13:22.66), Lizzie Hagan- 73rd (13:55.45), Serenity Reyes 114th (14:48.95), and Elisabeth Conley 158th (16:11.71).
