(Corpus Christi) — Marion’s Kelli Cielencki qualified for the state cross country meet after her performance at the UIL Region IV Class 3A Regional Cross Country Meet in Corpus Christi on Monday. The senior finished the two-mile course at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 13 minutes and 22.39 seconds.

Cielencki will compete next Friday at the 3A state meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.

Meanwhile, the Class 4A Region IV Championship will be held today in Corpus Christi. Navarro’s Ethan Luu, who finished in 1st place overall at the District 27-4A cross country meet, will compete on the boys side. The Lady Panther cross country team, which finished third as a team at the district meet, will compete in the 4A regional girls competition.

The 4A varsity girls race will start at 11:00 a.m. The varsity boys will start their race at 11:30 a.m.
