The Spazmatics to perform tonight in TLU’s Jackson Auditorium

The Spazmatics to perform tonight in TLU's Jackson Auditorium

(Seguin) — Get ready to step back into the 1980s. The much-anticipated concert of the fall is set for tonight at Texas Lutheran University. The Spazmatics, the ultimate 80s tribute band, will take the stage tonight at TLU’s Jackson Auditorium. The concert gets underway at 7 p.m.

Complete with skinny ties, Brill creamed hair and horn-rimmed glasses, the band is known for recapturing, “all the best” of the 80s decade.

Ashlie Ford, the director of marketing and communications, says The Spazmatics equal fun.

“We wanted to bring a group that had a really strong local following and a group that is just a really fun performance. So, we immediately thought of the Spazmatics. They have a huge following in the surrounding areas — in Comal County, in Austin and Guadalupe County and we know that they play in a lot of places locally and we thought let’s bring this 80s tribute band to campus for a really fun, energetic, high energy night for not only our students but for everyone here in Seguin,” said Ford.

Ford says the most important part about tonight’s concert is that the event is open to anyone.

“This like most of our events is free. It’s open to the public. No tickets are required. We always want people from the Seguin community to come to our events. This is going to be really fun, especially for anyone who grew up in the 80s or just loves 80s music. It’s going to be a great event for families. We encourage you to not only attend but really have fun, dance, and participate. This is the kind of group that encourages that kind of sort of crowd participation. Like I said, a lot of high energy going on and the most important thing for people to remember if they are attending is that the event is tonight, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Jackson Auditorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and just a reminder all bags will be searched upon entry and no alcohol is allowed or being served at this event,” said Ford.

Ford says due to rain chances, the concert originally scheduled for TLU’s Jackson Park was moved to Jackson Auditorium. The event, again, is free. No tickets are required.

The concert is being sponsored by the TLU Jessie S. and Jack Harold Upton Brown Cultural Enrichment Endowment Fund.
