(Geronimo) — Navarro Panther offensive and defensive lineman Houston Berry received two college football offers this week.

This past Sunday, the senior announced he was extended an offer to play football at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. And on Thursday, Berry announced he received an offer from McMurry University.

In four games this season, Berry has 10 tackles with one for loss and a blocked punt from his defensive line position. As a junior last year, Berry was recognized on the District 13-4A Academic All-District Team.

UMHB is lead by second year head coach Larry Harmon. They compete in the American Southwest Conference. UMHB is 1-0 in conference play in 2023. They’ll be in Seguin next Saturday to take on conference foe Texas Lutheran.

The Crusaders went 12-2 during the 2022 season. UMHB reached the NCAA Division-III semifinals in Harmon’s first year at the helm. Under former head coach Pete Fredenburg, the Crusaders took home D-III national championships in 2016, 2018 and 2021.

The McMurry War Hawks are an NCAA Division-III football program based in Abilene.  McMurry also competes in the American Southwest Conference. They are 0-1 in conference play this season. McMurry will play at TLU on November 4th.

The War Hawks were 1-7 in conference play in 2022 and 1-9 overall. McMurry is lead by head coach Jordan Neal.

Berry and the Navarro Panthers are on a bye week this week. They’ll be back in action next Friday, October 6th to kick off their District 13-4A schedule at home against Lago Vista. The Panthers will be looking to get revenge against the Vikings, who bounced them from the playoffs last year.
