(Seguin) — Three days after eclipsing the 1000-yard mark on the season, Seguin Matador running back John Jackson received two college football offers on Monday.

Southwestern Oklahoma State and Fairmont State both extended offers to the Seguin High School senior. Both the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs and Fairmont State Fighting Falcons are NCAA Division-II football programs. Fairmont State is based in West Virginia. Southwestern Oklahoma State is based in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Jackson already has two other college offers on the table from Virginia University of Lynchburg and McMurry University. He was extended offers from those schools in August and June, respectively.

Jackson has 1089 yards rushing on the season for Seguin. He has rushed for over 200 yards in each of the Matadors’ first five games. He leads the team with 14 touchdowns on the season. Jackson also had a 1000 yard season in his sophomore year.

Jackson is a mult-sport student-athlete for the Matadors. As a junior, Jackson lead the Seguin basketball team in scoring averaging over 21 points per game in the 2022-23 season. He was named the Offensive MVP in District 26-5A following the season. Jackson passed the 1000 point plateau in his career during a Seguin victory over Converse Judson on December 8th.

Jackson and fellow Seguin seniors, tight end Jackson Pond, offensive lineman Cooper Newman, defensive back Donovan Cray and sophomore quarterback Corey Dailey have all received college football offers in the last four months. Pond has received three college offers while Cray has secured four offers.

The Matadors have a bye week this week. They will be back in action next Friday night on the road at Boerne Champion. Both the Chargers and Matadors are tied with Smithson Valley for first place in District 12-5A at 2-0.
