Matadors host Brahmas tonight for homecoming on KWED

(Seguin) — It’s homecoming tonight for the Seguin Matadors as they host the San Antonio MacArthur Brahmas.

The District 12-5A match-up is the second for both schools this season. The Matadors beat Lehman 55-30 on the road last Saturday while the Brahmas fell at home to Hays 28-14.

Seguin head coach Craig Dailey lauded the effort of his offensive line in last week’s victory pointing out senior lineman Carter Dunn for his versatility moving to the tight end position.

“We had injuries so we moved our tight end to fullback and Carter just jumped in at tight end and just went to work,” Dailey said. “But really those guys can play any of those positions because they understand the rules of the game and our blocking schemes. He jumped in there at tight end and we went on like it was no big deal. That’s hats off to the offensive line coaches in having our kids prepared to handle any position whenever something happens.”

The Matador offensive line has opened big holes for the running game. Senior running back John Jackson is one of the top rushers in the state of Texas. He’s run for over 200 yards in each of Seguin’s first four games. Jackson has 885 yards rushing on only 94 carries, averaging 9.4 yards per carry. He also has 11 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Tonight’s homecoming game between Seguin and MacArthur kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Matador Stadium. We’ll have all the play by play action on KWED.

(Giddings) — The Navarro Panthers will be on the road for their final non-district game of the season.

The Panthers will be in Giddings to battle the Buffaloes. Navarro is 2-2 on the season, Giddings is 1-3. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Buffalo Stadium in Giddings.

(Marion) — And it’s homecoming in Marion tonight as well as the Bulldogs welcome in rival Randolph for a District 13-3A clash.

Marion went 2-2 during the non-district season. The Ro-Hawks come into the first district game of the season at 4-0. The game kicks at 7 p.m. tonight at Veterans Stadium in Marion.

We’ve got all the teams covered tonight on KWED.
