Bothe and Lamb to be inducted into Seguin Hall of Honor on Friday night

(Seguin) — Former Matador student-athletes Alex Bothe and Kelly Lamb will inducted into the Seguin ISD Athletic Hall of Honor on Friday.

Bothe is a 2010 Seguin High School graduate and was a dual threat with her athletic ability in volleyball and softball. She was an outside hitter for the UIL State Volleyball Semi-Final Team during the same year that she was a centerfielder for the Regional-Quarterfinal Matador Softball team.

Bothe was a 4-year letterman in softball and a 4-year Academic All-District player. She is best known for having a strong arm from centerfield that intimidated many opponents from running home. She was named the Matador Softball MVP.

Bothe also dominated in volleyball. She was a 3-year letterman and a 3-year Academic All-District volleyball player and was also named to the S.A. Express News Player of the Week and 2010 All-State Volleyball Team.

At the end of her high school career, Bothe played volleyball at Birmingham-Southern College. Once she graduated, she returned to Seguin and taught elementary school and was voted Teacher of the Year. She then began to coach volleyball at New Braunfels and Lockhart. Alex is currently coaching at Alamo Heights.

Kelly Koenig Lamb is also a 2010 Seguin High School graduate. She was a member of the Division 4A UIL State Volleyball Semi-Finalist team as a setter, as well as the UIL Regional-Quarterfinal Softball team as a 3rd base softball player. She was also a 4-year starter and captain on the volleyball and softball teams.

Lamb received many athletic and academic accolades in high school. She was All-Area and All District for 3 years in volleyball and was awarded the top Offensive Player of the year 3 times. She was awarded a place on the 4A-5A Volleyball All-Star Team, as well as the San Antonio Area 4A Class Team.

In softball, Lamb was awarded All-Area and All-District honors. She also received the Golden Glove award and the KSAT-TV Scholar Athlete Award.

Lamb was also a star student. She was Salutatorian of her class, Student Council Class Treasurer, and the Student Body Treasurer. Kelly attended Texas A&M University and became a CPA in 2015. She began working at Deloitte Tax LLP, as a global mobility tax consultant based out of Houston, Denver, and then New Braunfels.

Bothe and Lamb will be inducted into the Seguin ISD Athletic Hall of Honor before Friday night’s Seguin/Laredo United football game.
