More college football offers come in for Seguin High School seniors

Seguin senior Jackson Pond announces another college football offer via X.

(Seguin) — Three Seguin High School seniors added to their college football offers on Labor Day.

Center Cooper Neumann and tight end Jackson Pond both received offers from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Both players made their announcements on social media on Monday.

Matador seniors Pond, Newman, running back John Jackson, defensive back Donovan Cray and sophomore quarterback Corey Dailey have all received college football offers in the last four months.

Pond and Neumann are coming off Second Team All-District 12-5A seasons for the Matadors in 2022. Cray was an All-District Honorable Mention as a safety last season. Dailey was named the district’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2022 along with earning All-District Honorable Mention in addition to being selected to the Academic All District team.

In addition to Neumann and Pond’s announcements, Jackson announced on Monday he received an offer from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri.

Through two games in 2023, Jackson has 429 yards rushing on 46 carries for a 9.3 average. The senior running back has scored six touchdowns including a 77-yard score last Saturday against New Braunfels.

The Mats will be back on the high school gridiron this Friday night as they host the Laredo United Longhorns. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Matador Stadium.

You’ll hear all the action on KWED. Our high school football Friday night coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. with the Navarro Panther Report followed by the Marion Bulldog Report all leading into our Matador pregame show where we’ll have the Matador Report on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
