(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panthers have a new head baseball coach.
Justin Dunnam will take the helm of the Panther program following the departure of former head coach Kris Cavazos.
Dunnam has been at Navarro for the last three years. He has 15 years of baseball coaching experience including six years as the head baseball coach at Madisonville High School. He lead the Mustangs to back-to-back district championships in 2011 and 2012. Dunnam was named the Brazos Valley Co-Coach of the Year by the Bryan/College Station Eagle in 2011.
Dunnam will also serve as the defensive coordinator for the Navarro Panther football team. Overall, Dunnam has 18 years of football coaching experience with nine of those years serving in a coordinator role.
Dunnam replaces Kris Cavazos, who served as the Panther head baseball coach and defensive coordinator for the football team. Cavazos left Navarro this past spring for Ralls High School outside of Lubbock. Cavazos compiled a record of 110-44 in five seasons as the Panther head baseball coach.
The Panther baseball team finished the 2023 season with a 24-10 record and claimed the District 28-4A championship. Navarro advanced to the UIL Class 4A Regional Quarterfinals before being eliminated by state-ranked Boerne.
