(Seguin) – An increase in frauds and scams has one local bank watching out for not only its customers but everyone in the Seguin community.
First United Bank in Seguin will be hosting its annual Shred Day this Saturday outside its main bank location at 200 North Austin Street.
Mary Hernandez, relationship anchor for First United, says not only does the service allow residents to do some cleaning around their homes but it helps them destroy those sensitive documents.
“We really want to provide this service to our customers and to our community so that they can take advantage of this event to protect their identity by shredding documents such as their personal documents, bills and receipts, any sort of medical records. The main thing is for their financial wellness and protecting their identity,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez says not only is the paper shredding free but there will be folks to help out with the heavy lifting.
“We will have our event across the street on North Austin Street in the big parking lot. It will be blocked off and so we will have people that are out there to come and pick up boxes out of people’s cars. We have a limit of 10 boxes per vehicle,” said Hernandez.
The free paper shredding event will be held Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.
